More than 3,500 people from around the world exhibited at the renowned IMEX event, with more than 5,000 clients attending over three days. Te Puia | NZMACI was the only New Zealand tourism product at the event.
Te Puia general manager sales and marketing, Kiri Atkinson-Crean says IMEX is one of the most prestigious conference and incentives events on the international calendar, and the table created a notable talking point for delegates, setting New Zealand apart from the rest.
The ‘Kōrero & Kai’ kaupapa (initiative) – a concept developed by Tourism New Zealand – involves a stunning and interactive carved table where visitors can share food and conversation.
“Designed around the uniquely Kiwi experience of manaakitanga (hosting), the focus on live kōrero sits at the heart of this kaupapa, a concept which proved extremely successful this week.”
The table has been made in two pieces. One third of the table remains in New Zealand, while the other two thirds travels around the world to support New Zealand’s presence at international trade events.
In Frankfurt, the two pieces came together, separated by a high definition screen, to give the illusion everyone is seated at the same table. New Zealand’s portion of the table debuted at Te Puia’s Rotowhio marae.To learn more about the carving school, click here:
